Electronics Hardware Engineer

6-12 months contract (With possible extension)
Required Skills
- Engineering degree (or equivalent) in electronic engineering.
- To provide electronic engineering support to the manufacturing and test departments, and support Design Engineering team with implementation of new products, writing Test Specifications and Test Reports.
- Experience working in an electronic test facility, ideally with sub-assembly build knowledge.
- Practical experience with Railway / Rolling Stock electronics development.
- Experience with control systems.
- This person will work closely with Engineering and Production/Test.
- This person would ideally be able to support our current technicians,
- This person would need to have a strong Engineering Design background to help with design updates, reports etc.
- This person would report to SPOCs in UK Team
- The person should also be able to help with the external compliance testing (Environmental, EMC, S&V).
- Experience writing test specifications and reports.
- Positive attitude, self-motivated and understands own strengths.
- Able to work with limited supervision, prioritise work and make effective decisions.
- Good communication skills; must be able to communicate and present technical issues effectively and concisely.
- Good ability and knowledge in using commonly used office applications and tools, including Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project.
- Role may require working at different locations to support the delivery of projects and the performance and reliability of products.
Principle Responsibilities & Accountabilities
- Provide electronic systems engineering knowledge and skills to engineering projects.
- Produce & check technical documentation including specifications, electronic design information, test plans & specifications, technical reports.
- Test, Production and Quality Department support throughout product cycle.
- Produce evidence to support conformance verification to standards, including BS EN50155.
- Support investigations into failures of electronic systems & components, determine root cause and present findings.
- Specify test equipment and specifications to undertake measurements or monitoring of electrical & electronic systems and equipment whilst in operation.
- Perform any other duties within capabilities, training, or experience.
- Ability to support external compliance testing within the UK.
- Support production installation abroad if required.
- Comply with company and statutory Quality, Health & Safety, Environmental and other policies and procedures.
- Ensure all reports proactively participate in Health & Safety management processes.
- Ensure that investigations and reports on failed / defective components are carried out in line with policies & procedures in a timely manner.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with current and potential customers in such a manner as to maintain the reputation of the company as a world class supplier of railway vehicle services.
- Identify methods of improvement within the area of responsibility. o Link to the Wabtec group to deploy improvement initiatives (WMS, new technologies, etc.).
