Head of Purchasing/Category Management
Location: Staffordshire - Full-Time, On-Site
Package: 120,000 - 150,000 plus car allowance and bonus schemes

About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Purchasing/Category Management to lead and optimise purchasing strategies aligned with our business objectives. You will play a key role in driving cost improvements, fostering cross-functional collaboration, and building strong relationships with internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategy Development & Integration: Lead the creation and global integration of category strategies, ensuring they align with business operations.
  • Relationship & Business Integration: Build and maintain long-term stakeholder relationships to enhance business capabilities and performance.
  • People Leadership: Develop and manage a high-performing category team with a cross-functional mindset.
  • Business Management & Coordination: Leverage cross-functional category knowledge to identify and exploit business opportunities.

Skills & Knowledge Required:

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills
  • Proven experience in change management and influencing senior stakeholders
  • Conflict resolution and results-driven mindset
  • Comprehensive knowledge in category & supplier management, cost and pricing strategies, and contract management
  • Financial acumen and performance management skills

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Proven success in purchasing within an engineering and production environment
  • Experience leading multi-disciplinary and virtual teams in a global matrix organisation
  • Strong relationship-building skills with senior stakeholders
  • Engineering or program management background preferred
  • Graduate-level education (CIPS qualification preferred)
  • Flexibility for occasional travel
