RT3 - Engineering Lecturer

Salary: £30,000 - £40,000
Responsible to: Curriculum Area Manager Engineering and Construction
Responsible for: The development and delivery of high-quality academic provision in response to employer demand on T Level qualifications in Engineering and Higher Technical Education and the associated administrative responsibilities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- To support the design and development of T level Engineering provision and Higher Technical Engineering programmes.
- To teach on a range of full-time, part-time and apprenticeship programmes at Level 3 - 5 in Engineering.
- Engage in core duties including leading course team meetings, supporting the CAM with timetabling of this provision to meet employer expectations and ensuring courses meet college KPI targets.
- Lead the Engineering team in preparation, marking, monitoring of student progress, preparing reports, setting and marking of internal and external exams, and developing and preparing a range flexible learning material.
- To aid in the development of opportunities with employers and individuals and foster strong relationships, equipping industry partners and associated learners with the knowledge, skills and experience in Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering technologies.
- To act as a programme specialist and advisory link between the engineering curriculum team and work placement officers supporting T Levels.
- To support the relationship with the awarding organisations in terms of quality standards and T Level qualifications at Level 3. To play a full part in the internal verification including organisational and developmental work of the department and assistance with college wide quality assurance systems.
- To develop an outstanding employer-led provision that responds to the needs of the local skills demands and job markets and provides a robust route for progression into employment.
- To undertake the normal administrative duties required of subject leaders and lecturers, including assistance with admissions (including interviews), enrolment, induction and providing management information as required.
- Be aware of, and maintain compliance with, all departmental and college requirements relating to Health and Safety.
- To be involved, as necessary, in marketing of the college, and department and play an active role in activities such as open days and through liaison with local and national employers.
- To participate in the Course and departmental Self-Assessment Reporting process.
- To assist the Curriculum Manager to identify the continuous professional development (CPD) requirements or staffing needs to meet the delivery demands of the programmes.
- Undertake such other duties which arise from time to time and which are commensurate with the job title.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Has a degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline, and/or has recent and relevant industrial experience in Automation, Control and related topics.
- Is experienced in a core field of Engineering such as Design and Development, Automation and Control, Robotics, Mechatronics and has an understanding of technologies being up to date with how the sector is evolving.
- Has a relevant teaching qualification (DTLLS or equivalent) and is able to plan and deliver excellent teaching, learning and assessment activity.
- Has relevant teaching experience within the FE or HE sector or industry related training across Engineering. Competent to deliver at Level 3 and/or above, with a willingness to upskill on other current/forthcoming technologies.
- Has a good standard of English and maths (eg. qualified to a minimum GCSE A* -C or equivalent)
- Has experience leading a team of staff and developing their skills to support the growth of the provision.
- Is IT competent in the use of a variety of software e.g. word, excel spreadsheets etc.
- Is well organised and able to manage the peaks and troughs of a varied workload.
- Is able to work under pressure at busy times of the year.
- Has an understanding of their responsibilities relating to the safeguarding of young people and vulnerable adults.
- Has an understanding of Equal Opportunities and a positive attitude towards them.
- Has a willingness to undertake and promote continuous professional development.
- Willing to undertake such other duties that may be required from time to time and which are commensurate with the job title.
