REED are working with a national manufacturer to recruit an experienced HR Advisor to provide a dedicated HR advisory service across a range of employment and employee relations topics. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in HR practices and a keen understanding of employment legislation. The HR Advisor will support organisational objectives by delivering comprehensive and pragmatic HR advice and support in a fast-paced, multi-site unionised environment.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Provide HR advisory services on recruitment, absence and health issues, grievance matters, organisational change, and Trade Union agreements.
  • Assist managers with recruitment and selection issues, including developing job descriptions, person specifications, and selection processes, and participating in interviews as needed.
  • Lead the management of casework related to long-term sickness absence, including making recommendations, advising and supporting managers, and liaising with relevant health professionals.
  • Support the HR Manager in updating HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with Employment Legislation.
  • Develop and maintain a performance management culture within the company, enhancing managers’ skills in this area and leading on capability-related casework.
  • Prepare regular and ad hoc reports and management information as agreed with the HR Director.
  • Provide day-to-day HR services to operational managers and monitor HR budget expenses.
  • Stay updated with developments in employment legislation and HR best practices, sharing knowledge within the team to continuously improve HR systems and practices.
  • Provide cover for all HR service areas as needed and support the HR Administration Team.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • CIPD Level 5 qualification with a minimum of two years of generalist HR experience.
  • Experience in a manufacturing/commercial environment is desirable.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of employment legislation and a good appreciation of best practices and current HR trends.
  • Excellent data analysis, communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
  • Proficiency in using HR information systems, spreadsheets, and word processing packages.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and solve problems effectively.
