Mechanical Fitter
Stafford - travel required
30k-50k (plus overtime)
Roles & Responsibilities
- Interpret mechanical drawings and specifications for the installation of substation infrastructure.
- Assemble, fit, align, and bolt mechanical components such as support structures, busbars, earth bars, and associated steelwork.
- Conduct installation and maintenance of mechanical plant and support systems (e.g., HVAC, earthing systems).
- Work under the direction of a Site Supervisor, escalating issues where necessary.
- Mark up drawings with "as-installed" status.
- Complete and sign onto RAMS and daily Point of Work Risk Assessments (PoWRAs).
- Comply with all National Grid SHE (Safety, Health, and Environment) procedures and site access rules.
- Participate in daily briefings and toolbox talks.
Requirements
- National Grid Persons qualifications (mandatory).
- Manual Handling, Working at Height, and Abrasive Wheels (where applicable).
- First Aid (1day).
- CSCS card.
- Experience with torque wrenches, hand tools, grinders, hydraulic jacks.
- Experience using MEWPs, telehandlers (with CPCS/NPORS tickets as required).
- Experience with lifting gear, winches, and hoists.
