A specialist, market leading manufacturer is looking for an Operations Manager to join the senior leadership team and support as they integrate a new site into the group. This is an evolving role which will incorporate cross functional collaboration and give you the opportunity to shape a business unit.

Client Details

This Staffordshire based business is going through an exciting period of growth and as the Operations Manager, you can be an instrumental part of shaping the site's identity. You will be implementing best practice and driving improvements across the site, aiming to get the most from their processes, people and equipment. As the Operations Manager, you will be overseeing the production and warehousing departments deliver optimal site efficiency.

Description

This is a key role in the business that will allow you to develop and drive process and operational improvements in order to deliver best possible efficiency and productivity. A big part of this role will be supporting in ensuring capital investment is properly utilised as the business embraces automation, defining and developing the best practice culture of a new site.

Key Accountabilities:

  • To lead, manage and direct the effective production and distribution of their products operation and a continuous improvement environment
  • Manage and maintain the group's strategic objectives, budgets and KPIs
  • Define and agree individual and team key performance indicators and targets
  • Drive department performance against defined and agreed key performance indicators to achieve targets
  • Support the senior leadership team in creating a collaborative, target driven working environment
  • Work with the Production and Engineering teams to ensure best use of resources and support, best practice sharing and group policy implementation
  • Work with project teams to propose improvement plans or capital investment cases to the board where appropriate
  • Ensure a proactive approach to HSE related issues to deliver continuous improvement of occupational and process safety
  • To set and communicate the department vision; coaching and developing the team to achieve individual objectives while driving continuous improvement
  • Support with ensuring that regular reviews of risk assessments / Safe Systems of Work for all activities and work equipment are undertaken
  • Support in determining KPIs for the site and measure them on a regular basis
  • Build a collaborative workforce and work effectively cross-functionally
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives to reduce overall costs of production and levels of waste, whilst increasing OTIF and meeting all quality criteria
  • Identify CAPEX and investment opportunities and support project implementation
  • Create an environment of employee engagement, training and succession to create a high performance, motivated work culture and continuous improvement environment

Profile

This is a great opportunity for an Operations/Manufacturing Manager with FMCG or broader mixing, blending operations to take on broader responsibility in a growing business. The successful applicant will also have the following:

  • Change management experience ideally with lean manufacturing knowledge (using techniques like Six Sigma, DMAIC, SMED, Kaizen etc.)
  • Proven track record developing teams & driving performance
  • The ability to work well, in collaboration with a cross functional senior management team
  • HSE training/awareness
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels
  • Ability to coach and develop a team to deliver their maximum potential

Job Offer
