Mechanical Stress Engineer

AerospaceStafford  A Mechanical Stress Engineer is required to join an engineering team who are working on the design and development of light helicopters for the global market. The company design, develop and manufacture their products in the UK.

With extensive financial backing and a growing order book they are seeking to grow their engineering team and require Mechanical Stress Engineers to join their team.

The Mechanical Stress Engineer will drive current and future aircraft & gas turbine engine programmes forward, working with an engineering team to develop aircraft and engine components.

As Mechanical Stress Engineer - you will be required to;

  • Create mechanical models to analyse the aircraft components and sub-systems using analysis methods ranging from initial scoping calculations in mathcad to 2D and 3D FEA models.
  • Build and analyse mechanical models of static and rotating components using 2D and 3D FEA.
  • Working closely with design team to optimise the performance and integrity of mechanical components across the platform.
  • Technical assessment of the component life and integrity through the design phase, into testing, verification, validation, certification and in-service support.
  • LCF and HCF lifing of components
  • Crack propagation and damage tolerance assessments of Critical Parts.

As Mechanical Stress Engineer - you will have;

  • BSc/BEng in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with relevant mechanical analysis experience
  • FEA mechanical analysis experience
  • Good understanding of transient thermal loads in hot components and load interactions
  • Experience in rig testing and verification is desirable
  • Experience with damage tolerance assessments is desirable
  • Team orientated, problem solving attitude.
