Diesel Engine Development Engineer
Location: Stafford | Contract: 12 months
Role Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Diesel Engine Development Engineer to join a leading engineering team at a state-of-the-art facility in Stafford. This role is key to supporting the development of a high-performance industrial diesel engine range, focusing on engine calibration, data analysis, and performance validation.
The position requires a skilled engineer who can take ownership of planning and delivering engineering activities, ensuring that all development work meets the highest standards of quality and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Diesel engine performance and emissions calibration
- Mechanical verification and validation of engine components and systems
- Defining and managing component validation plans
- Coordinating day-to-day engineering activities, including test and analysis management
- Conducting failure analysis and defect resolution using industry-standard methods
- Preparing technical reports and presenting findings
- Ensuring compliance with company procedures and quality standards
- Supporting the design function through FMEA participation
- Collaborating with engineering teams across multiple sites
- Occasional overseas travel as required

Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
- Engineering degree or equivalent qualification/experience
- Proven experience in engine performance and emissions calibration, data analysis, and reporting
- Knowledge of emissions measurement techniques, global emission regulations, and emissions hardware
- Understanding of control system development, fuel system optimisation, and turbocharger matching
- Proficiency in MS Office and technical report writing
- Strong knowledge of industrial diesel engine systems, including cooling, lubrication, and air systems
Desirable:
- Experience with CANAPE and Osiris high-speed data capture
- Familiarity with FMEA processes and validation techniques
