Job Summary:We are looking for a motivated and experienced Senior Occupational Therapist to join our dynamic team at the University Hospital of North Midlands. In this role, you will manage the clinical delivery of care within a specialty team, providing essential occupational therapy services to patients with complex needs. You will work autonomously and supervise less experienced therapists, support staff, and students while undertaking nine-month rotations through your clinical specialty.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Actively participate in ward meetings, case conferences, and ward rounds to collaborate with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Liaise with external service providers, including GPs, clinics, and community services, to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Utilize motivational and negotiation skills to engage patients, particularly those with communication barriers.
  • Deliver and interpret complex information to patients and colleagues, adapting treatment plans based on thorough assessments.
  • Manage your caseload, delegate tasks to Band 5 staff, and ensure appropriate equipment and materials are utilized.
  • Provide treatment techniques with an understanding of their benefits and risks, and educate patients and their families on their conditions.
  • Participate in the development of quality initiatives, clinical audits, and service improvements in collaboration with the team.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in line with local and national guidelines.

Key Requirements:

  • HCPC-registered Occupational Therapist with relevant experience.
  • Strong clinical skills in assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of patients.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to work flexibly, including weekends and bank holidays across two Trust sites.
