Performance and Development Engineer

Stafford (ST16) - Hybrid working

Initial 12 Month Contract - likely to extend for the right person!

Early finish on a Friday! - 37 hours a week

This is a great opportunity for an Engineer to work within the R&D facility of a global engine and genset manufacturer in Stafford.  Working alongside Engineers who are focused on innovation and performance, you will be responsible for planning and delivering engineering activity as part of the 5000 Series diesel product development activity.

Not only is this an exciting opportunity to be working with the latest diesel engine technology and systems, they're very busy too - so we're looking for an Engineer to be able to hit the ground running!

What would you do:

  • Diesel engine performance and emissions calibration
  • Mechanical verification and validation of diesel engine components and systems
  • Defining and managing component validation plans
  • Coordination of day-to-day engineering activity and management of test and analysis
  • Failure analysis and defect resolution using industry-standard methods
  • Technical reporting
  • Support to the design function is required through FMEA attendance
  • Occasional overseas travel may be necessary as required by business needs

What experience are we looking for?

  • Experienced engine performance and emissions calibration engineer
  • Knowledge of emissions measurement techniques, worldwide emission regulations and emissions measurement hardware.
  • Knowledge of turbocharger matching, fuel system optimisation and control system development
  • Coordination of day-to-day engineering activity and management of test and analysis activity
  • Failure analysis and defect resolution using industry-standard methods
  • Experience in writing technical reports
  • Working knowledge of industrial diesel engine systems such as cooling, turbocharging, lubrication, air etc… would be great
