  • Hours of work - 07:15 - 17:15 Monday-Thursday

ROLE PURPOSE AND OVERVIEW:

The Quality department at Perkins Stafford have an opportunity for a supplier quality inspector.

As an SQI you will be responsible for the inspection of supplied material into Perkins Stafford against known quality defect criteria and engineering specifications. The role is critical to ensuring that material supplied to production meets engineering and customer requirements to ensure a successful high-quality product is built, tested and dispatched without issue to our customers. As part of the role, you will also be responsible for the movement of material through the work area both physically and electronically which is also key to ensuring the logistics team are supported with material to kit for engines and ensures material shortages to line as a result of the inspection process are avoided. You will be required to work quickly but ultimately safely, communicating well with your team members and members of other departmental team that you will engage with.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support Long block/ Assembly/ Hot Test Quality gate inspection, including Black Light leak detection, Pinpoint by-passes.
  • Provide accurate and robust feedback to the Assembly, Test and Finish quality gates.
  • Engine sign off and first response to any quality issues raised.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Essential:

  • Competent PC literacy and use of Microsoft office packages and business software - responsible for the movement of material electronically, completing the SQI log and daily report and attending shift meetings.
  • Operations background to demonstrate understanding of manufacturing quality processes
  • Technical knowledge of engine problem solving - ability to work with engines and diagnose faults
  • Previous technical experience within a manufacturing/quality focussed environment
  • Keen eye for detail

Desirable:

  • Experience working with Cross-functional teams
  • Knowledge of Quality related tools and methodology, including APQP, 8D, FMEA, SPC
