Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced, results-driven, and highly strategic Senior Buyer to join our dynamic procurement team. The ideal candidate will possess strong negotiation skills, deep market insight, and a deep understanding of manufacturing operations. This role will focus on driving cost-effective, timely, and quality sourcing strategies to support our manufacturing processes. As a senior-level buyer, you will work closely with leadership teams, suppliers, and other internal stakeholders to optimize the procurement of raw materials, components, and services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Sourcing & Procurement:

    • Lead and manage the end-to-end sourcing process for key materials and services used in manufacturing.
    • Develop and execute a strategic procurement plan to ensure the supply of high-quality materials at the best possible cost.
    • Conduct market research and analyze trends to identify cost-saving opportunities and innovative sourcing strategies.
    • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with suppliers and negotiate favorable terms and conditions.
  • Supplier Management:

    • Oversee supplier performance to ensure on-time delivery, quality, and compliance with contractual obligations.
    • Conduct regular supplier audits and manage the resolution of any issues that arise.
    • Establish and maintain effective communication channels with suppliers to ensure seamless supply chain operations.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:

    • Work closely with internal departments such as manufacturing, quality control, and logistics to align procurement activities with production needs.
    • Collaborate with the finance team to manage budgets, cost forecasting, and identify potential cost reductions.
    • Provide strategic input to product development and engineering teams for sourcing materials that meet technical requirements and sustainability goals.
  • Data & Analytics:

    • Utilize data-driven insights and procurement software to track supplier performance, inventory levels, and cost trends.
    • Prepare and present reports on procurement activities, supplier performance, and cost-saving initiatives to senior leadership.
  • Risk Management & Compliance:

    • Identify and mitigate supply chain risks related to external market fluctuations, supplier instability, and geopolitical factors.
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
Key Qualifications & Skills
  • Education:

    • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CIPS, CPSM) is a plus.
  • Experience:

    • A minimum of 7-10 years of experience in strategic purchasing or procurement, with at least 5 years in a senior or leadership role in a manufacturing environment.
    • Proven track record of managing complex supplier relationships and driving cost-saving initiatives.
    • Experience in negotiating large contracts and managing multi-million-dollar procurement deals.
  • Skills:

    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
    • Exceptional negotiation skills and the ability to influence key stakeholders.
    • Proficient in procurement software, ERP systems, and advanced Excel for data analysis.
    • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, supply chain, and inventory management.
    • Familiarity with sustainability and ethical sourcing practices.
  • Personal Attributes:

    • Strong leadership qualities with the ability to mentor and guide junior procurement staff.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
    • Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
    • High degree of attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
