Belmont Recruitment are currently seeking experienced candidates to cover various Family Mentor vacancies with a Staffordshire-based Local Authority. The roles are full-time on initial six month assignments, covering various locations within Staffordshire including: Burton upon Trent, Lichfield, Tamworth, Walsall, Cannock Chase, Stafford, Newcastle, and Moorlands.

The Family Hub Team support parents in improving their understanding of their parenting role, offering support for families with children and youngpeople aged 0-19 years (25 with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities). The Family Hubs support families to get help, information, advice, guidance and support to overcome difficulties and build stronger relationships.

Main Duties:

  • To provide emergency drop-in support to the must vulnerable households to provide guidance on their financial wellbeing.
  • Attend community support provided to households by our partners to promote and actively engage residents into the support available.
  • To work effectively with the residents of Staffordshire providing financial wellbeing support.
  • Identify those most in need and support them to access their entitlements.
  • Signpost to support available for households to access nationally and locally and develop and maintain a database.
  • Deliver face to face workshops in the family hubs and out in the community for Staffordshire residents around budgeting and financial wellbeing.
  • Engage with families to complete direct work with children and young people and their families to promote healthy lifestyles, positive peer/ family relationships and safe parenting to develop a good understanding of their culture/ community identity.
  • Deliver evidence-based groupwork.
  • Maintain accurate records of interventions to evidence impact and outcomes.

Essential Criteria:

Along with a passion for working with children and families, you will have:

  • Experience in delivering training and informative messages through fun and engaging pedagogy.
  • Understanding of how to appropriately signpost or intervene when required.
  • Ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team
  • Ability to work effectively in situations of conflict and resolve difficulties.
  • Have experience working with vulnerable individuals and safeguarding experience.
  • Excellent planning skills and the ability to plan your time effectively.
