Business Development Manager

Location: Staines, Surrey

Salary: £40,000 basic with £20,000 OTE

Your role of Business Development Manager will be to generate revenue and build market position by locating, developing, defining, negotiating, and closing business relationships. Sell their products to help clients improve administrative efficiency and provide account management to key client accounts.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

New Business Development

  • Prospect for potential new clients and turn this into increased business, focusing on larger sites and opportunities.
  • Seek new business opportunities within your area of responsibility to ensure a robust pipeline of opportunities, leveraging your network where possible.
  • Identify potential clients and decision makers within the client organization.
  • Research and build relationships with new clients.
  • Participate in planning approaches and work with the team to develop proposals that address the client’s needs, concerns, and objectives.
  • Participate in pricing the solution/service.
  • Handle objections by clarifying, emphasizing agreements, and working through differences to a positive conclusion.

Client Retention

  • Work with the CLO to manage key accounts, maintaining long-term relationships and maximizing sales opportunities.
  • Present new products and services and enhance existing relationships.
  • Arrange and participate in internal and external client debriefs.
  • Act as the main contact for client cancellations to maximize client retention.

Business Development Planning

  • Attend industry functions, such as association events and conferences.
  • Provide feedback and information on market and current trends.
  • Responsible for achieving individual performance targets.
  • Play an active role in training sales staff.

Reporting and Tracking

  • Submit progress reports and ensure data accuracy.
  • Ensure data is accurately entered and managed within the company’s sales management system/CRM.
  • Forecast sales targets for the current month of activity.
  • Provide feedback to support the development of existing and new products.
  • Track and record activity on accounts and close deals to meet targets.

General

  • Provide presentations to existing and new business.
  • Work with appropriate functions and internal colleagues to meet customer needs.
  • Plan and facilitate meetings at all levels.
  • Represent the company in the best light.
  • Understand the importance of legal and regulatory frameworks.

Qualifications/Skills Required

  • Ideally a graduate with 5+ years in a Business Development environment with a focus on sales and winning new business.
  • Proven business development manager accustomed to working to targets.
  • Proven track record in consultative selling and winning new business.
  • Proven track record of increasing revenue through lead generation.
  • Account management experience.
  • Must be organized, adaptable, flexible, and a good team player.
  • Ability to plan and manage time effectively.
  • Good analytical skills, able to make sense of data and report on it.
  • Ability to manage and track lead generation and a sales pipeline through CRM or a sales management system.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
