Accountant - Stalybridge
30 - 37.5 hours per week
The Accountancy People are looking to recruit an accountant, with a positive attitude to join our successful and growing team.
The ideal candidate will be ACA or ACCA qualified, however candidates with excellent experience in practice and who are the equivalent of AAT level 4 qualified will also be considered.
We are a training office for the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales therefore it is possible to take you through to becoming a Chartered Accountant if not already formally qualified. The growth of the firm means that we can progress you to more complex work as you develop your skills and knowledge. That said there is no requirement for you to carry out further training.
We mainly use Xero accounting software, knowledge of this programme is advantageous but not obligatory. You must have experience and in depth knowledge of similar software.
The main duties initially include assisting other staff members where required including:
- Preparing company accounts further guidance will be given as required
- Working on and reviewing VAT returns
- Supporting the bookkeeping of the clients eg helping them on Xero
- Dealing with client correspondence.
You will be a client manager taking on the responsibility for all aspects of clients’ accounting i.e.:
- Personal tax returns
- Company accounts
- Company tax
- Dealing with Companies House
- VAT returns
Skills required:
- Must have good communication skills (telephone, face to face and email)
- Good written English and highly numerate
- Work well within a team and on your own
- Good computer skills
- Hard working and interested in learning
- Must have experience working in practice within a firm of Accountants
