Business Development Manager

Location: Easton House / Hybrid

Salary: £44,173 - £52,456 per annum

Procurement and Supply has a major impact on the effectiveness, efficiency and profitability of any organisation, and they offer a ‘one stop shop’ for Procurement and Supply excellence in People, Processes and Performance. The organisation has local offices in the UK, Australia and New Zealand, Africa, the Middle East and the USA.

The Role

The identification and generation of B2B business from both new and existing accounts across the whole spectrum of CIPS products and services in the UK and Europe, ensuring strong revenue growth, increased future business opportunities and enhancement of the CIPS’ reputation as the leading body in procurement and supply.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the development of an integrated B2B sales strategy and plans that meets the requirements of the over-arching CIPS strategy and business plans.
  • Responsible and accountable for the development of targeted sales plans to meet or preferably exceed budgeted revenue and margin targets.
  • Responsible and accountable for developing corporate business across the whole spectrum of CIPS products and services leading to long-term relationships and profitable business, delivering or exceeding revenue and margin targets. Develop relationships that enhance the CIPS reputation as the leading body for procurement and that expand the opportunities for future business and referrals.
  • Responsible and accountable for building long-term relationships with new and identified clients, leading to continued growth of business, and by strong handover to the CIPS delivery team, ensure that customer expectations are continuously met.
  • Responsible and accountable for maintaining at all times the CIPS CRM systems and processes for recording client activity, sales opportunities, pipeline and business won. Produce regular reports on personal activity in a clear and concise way that ensures real clarity of activity.
  • Responsible and accountable for clear communications with the CIPS’ delivery team, ensuring that developed, bespoke client solutions can be delivered to promise to the timescales and high quality required by the customer, maintaining strong links with the delivery team to support client enquiries.
  • Responsible for maintaining strong relationships with the CIPS Marketing Team to ensure marketing campaigns are relevant and timely to maximise CIPS business development opportunities.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining strong relationships with CIPS International Partners and/or product suppliers to ensure appropriate and relevant proposals are developed to meet customer needs

Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong general education
  • Demonstrable experience in B2B sales, preferably in a service related organisation
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills, with the ability to write complex documents, reports and commercial proposals
  • Ability to make formal presentations in front of small to medium-sized groups
  • Commercially aware
  • Sales and customer relationship management experience
  • Knowledge of people development solutions for organisations
  • Person specification – great interpersonal skills, able to present at a c-suite level and build strong relationships
