We are excited to offer the opportunity to join our wonderful school and work with our exceptional students. We are looking for a creative, resilient, open-minded Behaviour and Welfare Lead to work with our exceptional pupils. The Behaviour and Welfare Lead will be accountable for promoting the highest possible standards of behaviour of the pupils at Wilds Lodge School, including:
- Taking a strategic overview of the department and developing then implementing plans to improve efficiency and effectiveness in relation to its contribution to the school's vision and purpose
- Leading the BWT team on assessing and evaluating pupil behaviour patterns and setting targets for improvement
- Leading the BWT in developing and enhancing the positive behaviour support skills and physical interventions of staff working across the school
- Work in partnership with SLT, Therapy and Family Support to ensure pupil positive support plans and risk assessments are kept up to date in real time
- Delivering 1:1 behaviour support when necessary
- Being responsible directly to the Head of Education for the school.
What you'll need to succeed
The appointed candidate will have experience working with pupils who have behavioural difficulties. You will have a broad knowledge of strategies used for teaching children and young people with social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH) and those who have a diagnosis of autistic spectrum disorder (ASD). You will know how to develop, provide and deliver behavioural support for pupils and how to develop the knowledge, skills and understanding of staff. About Wilds Lodge School
Wilds Lodge School is an independent 38 week specialist boarding and day provision for boys and girls (girls are accepted as day students only) for students aged between 5 and 19 with social, emotional and mental health difficulties, set in Empingham, Rutland. All the students at the school have an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP). It was established in 2007 and aims to place an equal emphasis on the educational, social and psychological development of our students. The key to the success of the school is a strong ethos, developed by a highly experienced and capable staff, and the strength of the relationships between the staff and the students.
We are a friendly school where staff are supportive of each other inside and outside of the classroom. We pride ourselves in ensuring all members of staff including our support staff have access to regular training. All our members of staff attend regular training on child protection; mental health and multi-agency working. All staff access a wide range of training on areas of SEN such as Autism, attachment and ADHD. Benefits Include:
