Electrical Engineer

Are you a skilled Electrical or Mechanical Engineer with exposure of working in Automotive, Industrial, Manufacturing or Distribution type environments?

DP World are embarking on an exciting expansion of our state of the art London Gateway Container Port based in Stanford le Hope, Essex. The vital responsibility of our Engineers is to ensure the smooth running of terminal operations by maintaining the reliability of our infrastructure including our Quay Cranes, Automated/Robotic Crane systems and our mobile and heavy plant equipment. Technicians are allocated to an asset group to carry out planned maintenance, repairs, and project-related work as well as provide help during the delivery, inspection, and commissioning of new equipment.

We are a 24/7 operation this role will be day and night shifts, working 12 hours at a time (6am-6pm and 6pm-6am). The good news is, that in a 2-week period, you will only work 7 shifts and have every other weekend off!

About The Role

  • To competently carry out preventive maintenance and repair works on a variety of Assets, in accordance with company safety standards and to minimise equipment downtime
  • Manage and supervise contractors during delivery and commissioning of equipment or while working on any asset, ensuring safe working practices are followed.
  • To support the development, improvement and updating of method statements and risk assessments for any preventive maintenance or repairs carried out on any asset
  • Lead by example and encourage others to implement and improve safe working
  • Work closely with the stores and Asset Managers to maintain inventory and stock levels.
  • Continuously innovate and improve to ensure optimal productivity and equipment performance.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

  • National Qualifications Framework – Minimum Level 3 Qualification (NVQ, City & Guilds etc)
  • Experience and knowledge of relevant HSE regulations related to equipment maintenance and activities including RAMS, COSHH and LOTO
  • Excellent knowledge of equipment maintenance
  • Experience in PLC fault finding
  • Good experience and knowledge working with Motors/Drives and Inverters from an Electrical Engineering perspective

Requirements include, but are not limited to, weight, height, blood pressure and hearing.
