Health and Safety Manager

We are working exclusively with an industry leading client on the lookout for a proactive Health and Safety Manager to join one of their sites in Coryton. This Health and Safety Manager will partner with site leadership to drive health, safety, security, environmental, and quality (HSSEQ) performance across all site operations.

In this role, you will collaborate with various teams to ensure full compliance with legislation while striving for continuous improvement. Additionally, you will provide expert advice and coaching to help cultivate a strong, interdependent safety culture at the site.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide ongoing support to maintain a safety-first and quality-focused culture, conducting regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance
  • Coach and guide site leaders and staff on safety leadership, supporting the cultural change program
  • Ensure accurate reporting and investigation of hazards, near-misses, and incidents, implementing lessons learned
  • Oversee emergency preparedness, ensuring emergency plans are regularly tested and updated, and equipment is readily available
  • Support site leadership during external regulatory and insurance inspections, ensuring full preparedness and compliance
  • Oversee contractor and visitor management to ensure safety standards are met
  • Conduct training and communication of HSSEQ policies, including new starter inductions, refresher training, and toolbox talks
  • Facilitate regular site safety meetings and foster workforce engagement through safety representatives
  • Coordinate the completion of HSSEQ tasks, ensuring timely submission of reports and updates

As such we would like you to have:

  • NEBOSH Diploma or relevant Level 5 qualification
  • Trained ISO9001 auditor with knowledge of ISO14001 and ISO45001
  • Expertise in accident investigation and HSSEQ management systems
  • Strong experience in hazard identification and risk management (HAZIDs, HAZOPs)
  • Understanding of process safety management principles and major hazard industry operations
  • Proven decision-making skills and experience in risk assessments
  • Practical experience in emergency response and security management
  • Experience in an operational environment (production, maintenance, engineering, distribution)
  • Excellent communication and coaching skills, with the ability to deliver effective presentations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
