Salary: £36,000-£42,000 (DOE) + London weighting allowance

Are you ready to take on a leadership role in a fast-paced environment? As the Transport Planning Shift Lead at our Coryton site, you’ll be at the forefront of overseeing the day-to-day operations of our Dispatchers and Schedulers.

This crucial role involves ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently and on time while quickly reacting to unplanned changes like vehicle breakdowns, customer run-outs, and driver absenteeism. You’ll manage key administrative responsibilities such as rotas, payroll, and KPI reporting, all while maintaining a seamless transition between shifts.

This is an onsite position with core hours from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm, but flexibility will be required to meet business demands. In return, you’ll have the opportunity to grow personally and professionally through off-site training, conferences, and networking events that may involve occasional travel. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate the daily shifts of the local Dispatch and Scheduler teams to ensure timely task completion and meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Sign off schedules for customer orders and ensure all KPIs and targets are being met.
  • Manage interactions between customer services, distribution teams, sales teams, and other stakeholders, providing updates on incidents such as customer run-outs, vehicle breakdowns, and driver absenteeism.
  • Respond quickly to unforeseen changes in daily plans, ensuring cost efficiencies while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Complete administrative tasks including payroll, rotas, training, and providing KPI reports.
  • Line manage the Dispatch and Scheduler team, including performance management and training.
  • Continuously improve master data to enhance customer experience and operational efficiency.
  • Make real-time decisions to adjust schedules based on operational constraints, balancing customer experience with operational needs.
  • Contribute to the safety agenda, reducing risks for drivers and promoting a "safety-first" culture.

Key Skills, Experience & Qualifications:

  • Must have experience in multi drop planning, hazardous goods will be an advantage
  • Advanced Excel skills are essential.
  • Candidates should be highly proficient in using a PC and demonstrate the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new software systems. (Systems such as Paragon, advantageous)
  • Manager CPC qualification advantageous.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence a range of stakeholders, including drivers, site leaders, and senior management.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities with a focus on continuous improvement and process optimisation.
  • A clear customer focus, delivering a high level of service through effective route planning and teamwork.
  • A working knowledge of safety regulations and their application to transport planning is highly desirable.
  • Must hold a full UK driving license and be flexible to work outside standard hours if required.
