Job Role: Plating and Fabrication Team Leader
Location: Loughborough
Shift: 07:30am to 4:30pm Mon to Thu / 07:30am to 12:30pm on Fri
Pay: 17.50 to 13.50 per hour

Our Client:

An established manufacturer are looking for a skilled and motivated Plater and Fabrication Team Leader to manage a small team and oversee the production of steel fabrication projects. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring all team tasks are completed on time, to the highest quality standards, and within budget, while also leading the team's performance and development.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead a team of fabricators and platers, ensuring the workflow is managed effectively, and production deadlines are met.
Use overhead cranes and have experience in structural fabrication, including line and levelling structures during fabrication.
Review and interpret technical and engineering drawings to understand required structures and materials.
Accurately measure, mark, cut, and shape metal materials using appropriate tools.
Assemble and position structural components, ensuring accuracy in fitting.
Assist welders by preparing plates for welding and supporting during welding processes.
Prepare and clean metal surfaces to ensure they are ready for welding.
Operate various fabrication machinery, including drills and hand tools.
Conduct quality control checks to ensure all work complies with project specifications, standards, and safety regulations.
Maintain safety standards by adhering to all safety protocols and ensuring personal protective equipment (PPE) is worn.
Perform basic maintenance on tools and equipment to ensure they remain in good working order.
Monitor and report on the team's performance, ensuring individual and team tasks are completed to the highest standards.
Track timesheets, manage holiday requests, and coordinate staff absences to ensure deadlines are not affected.
Ensure all work areas are safe, clean, and well-organized.
Perform additional duties as needed to support the fabrication process.

The ideal candidate:

Previous experience in a similar fabrication or plating role, including knowledge of structural fabrication and welding.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Ability to interpret technical and engineering drawings accurately.
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Ability to operate various fabrication machinery and tools.
Knowledge of safety protocols and ability to maintain high safety standards.
Strong communication and team coordination skills.
A proactive approach to problem-solving and task management.
