Senior Biomedical Engineer - Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Senior Biomedical Engineer specializing in medical equipment repair to oversee the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of a wide range of medical devices. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all equipment is serviced and maintained to the highest standards of safety and functionality, while also leading and mentoring a team of biomedical technicians.

Senior Biomedical Engineer - Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the inspection, maintenance, and repair of medical equipment, ensuring compliance with safety standards and manufacturer specifications.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex technical issues with medical devices and systems, providing effective solutions to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain detailed service records, including maintenance logs, repair reports, and parts inventories.
  • Collaborate with hospital staff and clinical teams to ensure the proper functioning of medical equipment critical to patient care.
  • Stay updated on the latest medical equipment technologies and repair techniques, and implement best practices in the maintenance program.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory standards, including FDA, OSHA, and Joint Commission requirements.
  • Participate in the development of preventative maintenance programs to extend the lifespan of equipment and reduce repair costs.
  • Assist in the budgeting process for equipment maintenance, repair parts, and tools.

Senior Biomedical Engineer - Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in Biomedical Engineering in the UK, with a focus on medical equipment repair and maintenance.
  • Certified OEM Training & Electrical Testing
  • In-depth knowledge of a wide range of medical devices, including diagnostic, therapeutic, ventilators, anaesthesia, patient monitoring, diathermies (electro surgery units), theatre tables, defibrillators, infusion & volumetric devices. and life support equipment.
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, testing equipment, and repair software.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex equipment issues.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience in managing and mentoring technical teams.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with healthcare professionals.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and staying current with advances in medical technology.
