Medical Devices Trainer

Remote with frequent travel to Stanmore RNOH

Full Time - Monday to Friday - 37.5 Hours

If so, our client, a leading provider of Managed Equipment Services (MES) to the NHS and private healthcare sector in the UK, is looking for a dedicated professional to join their team on a remote basis with frequent travel to RNOH Stanmore (You will need to be located in this area).

Purpose of the Role

Work alongside Medical Devices Training Coordinators to provide face-to-face and online training on the use of designated medical equipment to current and new clinical staff at all levels, including Bank staff and other support staff as necessary.

Task List

  • Identify medical device training needs for clinical professional users and deliver or facilitate appropriate medical device training in accordance with the terms of the Contract for each site in line with the Client Medical Devices Policy and the medical devices training system
  • Supplement OEM training on high-risk devices/devices in acute clinical areas and act as a liaison between the trust staff and OEM for support
  • Maintain the Learning Management System, liaise with managers about training delivered to their staff, compile and distribute monthly training reports to key account holders, highlighting clinical areas that are underperforming
  • Provide support to manage the learning management systems; to include devising learning plans and learning content, and creating competency records for all clinical staff
  • Advise and support the medical device risk assessment process, including application of protocols
  • Assist in the development of strategies for training on the use of medical devices
  • Assist in the design of training programmes on the selection and use of medical devices, and ensure that these training programmes comply with the requirements of government and other agencies
  • Audit the effectiveness of training programmes to promote the effective use of medical devices, and report any issues to the Client and management teams
  • Determine appropriate arrangements for refresher training and ensure that this is delivered
  • Liaise with clinical representatives to ensure that they maintain training and equipment information in clinical areas and that clinical staff have access to user instructions and training records
  • Monitor clinical incidents and recommended action arising from MHRA device alerts for possible training issues, taking appropriate action where necessary
  • Liaise with the Client in-house clinical training and competence teams as required (e.g: Professional Development team or Learning & Development department)
  • Be an active member of the Client Medical Devices Committee, or equivalent (as applicable)

Essential Experience

  • Experience of working in a clinical setting, (preferably in critical care, theatres, PICU, NICU, HDU or similar)
  • Experience of delivering training, ideally in a similar setting
  • Experience of, and familiarity with using or training on a range of medical devices
  • Good understanding of clinical processes and conditions, and of indications for use of different medical devices and their limitations
  • Experience in managing and maintaining complex MS Excel Workbooks

Essential Qualifications

  • Degree educated, in nursing or healthcare related field
  • Formal training qualification - Desirable

Essential Skills

  • Excellent communicator, able to interact with all levels of clinical and other staff
  • Computer literate, with experience of using MS Office suite, esp. MS Excel
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Superior integrity and discretion
