Multiple mechanical fitters and one supervisor required for this sucessful and rapidly expanding metal fabrications company. The roles will be site based locally.

You will fit and assemble fabricated metal parts on various project sites. The Mechanical Fitters will ensure high-quality standards and adherence to detailed project specifications. This role requires attention to detail and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

The supervisory-level Mechanical Fitter will oversee the fitting team, ensuring efficient workflow, mentoring junior fitters, and serving as a key point of contact for project management and client interactions. The ideal candidate for the supervisory role will demonstrate strong leadership skills and experience in a fitting or assembly environment.



Key Responsibilities:



Mechanical Fitters:

  • Assemble and fit fabricated metal components according to engineering drawings and project specifications.
  • Utilise hand and power tools safely and efficiently to complete assembly tasks.
  • Collaborate effectively with the project team to align assembly activities with project timelines and quality standards.
  • Conduct quality inspections of components and assemblies to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
  • Report issues or potential improvements to supervisors and contribute to problem-solving efforts.


Supervisor - Mechanical Fitter:

  • Lead and manage a team of Mechanical Fitters, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to project timelines.
  • Coordinate and delegate tasks to fitters while providing ongoing training and mentorship.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between the fitting team, project management, and clients, ensuring clear communication and expectations.
  • Conduct regular quality checks and inspections, addressing any discrepancies or concerns promptly.
  • Assist in developing and implementing best practices for assembly processes to improve efficiency and output quality.


Required Skills and Experience:

  • For Mechanical Fitters:

    • Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter or in a similar role within the metal fabrication industry.
    • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
    • Experience with hand and power tools used in fabrication and assembly processes.
    • Excellent problem-solving skills and keen attention to detail.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • For Supervisor - Mechanical Fitter:

    • Previous experience in a supervisory or team lead role, preferably within a fitting or assembly environment.
    • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team.
    • In-depth knowledge of assembly techniques and best practices in metal fabrication.
    • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to liaise effectively with various stakeholders.


Desired Skills:

  • Welding experience (MIG, TIG, or MMA) is a plus, but not essential.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and practices within construction sites.


Qualifications:

  • Relevant qualification or apprenticeship in mechanical engineering, fabrication, or a related field is preferred.
  • Previous experience in construction, fabrication, or manufacturing environments is beneficial.
