£50,088 to £59,703

The county has one of the fastest-growing populations in the country, which is bringing significant increases in demand for policing services and exciting opportunities for the future!The Finance department forms a critical function in the organisation to ensure that funding is best utilised to provide a high-quality policing service to the people of Hertfordshire. Following the implementation of the Finance Business Partnering team, the Financial and Management

You will proactively support information requests from the Finance Business Partner team. Lead and develop the Accountancy team. Lead on production, monitoring, and closing of the revenue budget and capital programme, and contribute to achieving the vision, purpose, and values of Hertfordshire Constabulary.As the Principal Accountant, managing the Accountancy team of 6 posts, you will play a pivotal role both within the Finance department and the wider organisation, bringing together both financial and performance data from operational units, providing insightful corporate financial reporting, and helping to ensure the Constabulary's resources are being allocated efficiently and effectively.

Your key responsibilities will be the preparation of a detailed revenue budget, productions of the capital budget, supporting the Chief Accountant with the statement of accounts, as well as balance sheet management.

To be successful in this role, you will be CCAB qualified with experience in a Management Accountant role within a public sector organisation and the ability to demonstrate a range of soft skills, including project management, relationship building, negotiation, influencing, and facilitation. Ideally you will also have experience in Financial Accounting responsibilities such as the production of the statement of account and maintenance of ledger integrity.You will have strong analytical skills, both financial and non-financial. The ability to see the value in the information you provide and to inspire others to make use of it.
