Accounts Payable Officer (European Entity Experience, Preferably German)

SRM have partnered with a rapidly growing, innovative company. As they continue to expand their operations, they are seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Officer to join the finance team.

The Role:

As an Accounts Payable Officer, you will play a critical role in managing and processing financial transactions for the German entity. You will ensure that all invoices are processed accurately and on time, while maintaining excellent vendor relationships and supporting internal teams with any payment-related queries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process, verify, and reconcile invoices for German entity
  • Ensure timely payments of vendor invoices and resolve any discrepancies
  • Maintain accurate and organised financial records in line with company policies
  • Communicate with internal departments and external vendors regarding payment issues or discrepancies
  • Assist with month-end closing activities, including preparing AP reports and accruals
  • Support the wider finance team with ad-hoc tasks and projects as required
  • Ensure compliance with local tax regulations, particularly German VAT requirements
  • Continuously improve accounts payable processes to ensure efficiency and accuracy

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in accounts payable, with European entity exposure (German experience highly desirable)
  • Solid understanding of European VAT regulations, ideally German VAT
  • Proficiency in financial software systems (Business Central is a plus)
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with vendors and internal teams
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, rapidly growing environment
  • Fluent in English; German language skills are highly beneficial
