Role: Business Development Manager

Location: Wheathampstead, St Albans

Hours: Monday to Friday 08:30-17:00 - some weekend work & travel will be required, on occasion, for exhibitions or events. Occasional travel to the client’s factory in Cambridgeshire

Salary: £30,000-£35,000 plus performance related commission – OTE 50k

An excellent opportunity has now arisen for an Business Development Manager  to join our client’s successful team in St Albans.

About our client:

Our client is a family run business, with father and son at the helm, supported by their fabulous team, working across two sites to deliver  food service needs when it comes to beverages, baking, ice cream and desserts.

About the role:

As a Business Development manager, you will be responsible for generating & growing new business.

On a day to day basis you will:

  • Generating your own quality leads through research
  • Cold-calling generate leads & following up with inbound leads
  • Maintaining accurate customer records on CRM, including logging calls & notes
  • Booking in meetings & presenting to clients, including making beverages to demonstrate how to use products
  • Account management
  • Identify opportunities for cross-selling & upselling
  • Attending regular sales meetings
  • Attending industry exhibitions & customer events
  • Working closely with Senior Management, Technical, Marketing & Customer Service

What we would like from you:

Successful candidates must be able to demonstrate their experience of managing large accounts, ideally within a Food Manufacturing or Food Service environment within the UK. You will have a strong background in customer service, relationship management, dealing with multiple projects and being commercially knowledgeable.

Ideal candidates will have worked as an Account Manager, Key Account Manager or similar Commercial roles within the Food Manufacturing sector.

You should also be someone who has a passion for food, gets things done and understands how to strategically develop accounts. Our client will consider candidates currently working at this level within a large corporate operation or ones ready to take the next step onto this level.
