Job Overview:

As a CNC/Manufacturing Engineering Programmer, you will be a key member of our Manufacturing Engineering team, specializing in CNC programming. In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to own and manage the CNC process, operate and program advanced 6-axis CNC machines, and contribute to new project development. You will be the subject matter expert in CNC operations, ensuring our machining processes meet the highest standards of quality and precision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • CNC Programming & Operation (60%):

    • Program, set up, and operate advanced 6-axis CNC machines, including a multi-million pound machine.
    • Develop, optimize, and troubleshoot CNC programs to ensure high-quality and efficient production.
    • Design and manufacture fixtures, jigs, and tooling to support the CNC processes.
    • Act as the CNC subject matter expert, owning the machine from a CNC perspective and leading its operation.
  • Manufacturing Engineering (40%):

    • Collaborate on designing and implementing new manufacturing processes.
    • Work on tooling, assembly, and fitting tasks to support broader manufacturing engineering goals.
    • Engage in cross-development programs and next-generation equipment projects.
    • Communicate with customers, providing technical expertise and managing development work.

Requirements:

  • Experience:
    • 5+ years of experience in a CNC programming and operating role, with significant experience managing and operating complex CNC machinery.
    • Strong background in manufacturing engineering, with hands-on experience in tooling, assembly, or fitting.
  • Skills:
    • Proficient in programming and operating 6-axis CNC machines.
    • Expertise in fixture, jig, and tooling design.
    • Ability to manage CNC processes independently, with a strong attention to detail.
    • Excellent communication skills for customer interaction and cross-functional teamwork.
  • Security Clearance:
    • SC Clearance is required.
    • British National, with eligibility to work on secret and defense-related programs.
  • Education:
    • A relevant engineering or manufacturing qualification is preferred, though equivalent experience will be considered.
