Database Engineer - Defence

A global IT consultancy are looking for a Database Engineer to join their team and play a crucial role in managing and optimizing their DB2 databases.
The Role:
- Administer and continuously monitor DB2 databases.
- Optimize database performance to ensure minimal downtime.
- Implement and manage database policies and procedures to secure database integrity and availability.
- Manage database backups and disaster recovery procedures using Cohesity.
- Conduct root cause analysis to troubleshoot database issues and provide timely resolutions.
- Contribute to the design and deployment of database storage structures, backup systems, and security frameworks in line with IT security policies.
Technical Skills and Experience:
- Profound understanding of DB2 database management technologies.
- Proficient with VMware and virtualization environments.
- Scripting skills in PowerShell, Bash, Python, or similar languages for automation and database task management.
- Familiarity with both Windows Server and Unix/Linux operating systems.
- Knowledge of VMware (to the extent of working with DB VM Payloads) with NetApp SAN and Cohesity backups.
