Database Engineer - Defence

Location: Stevenage

My client is looking for a Database Engineer to join their team and play a crucial role in managing and optimizing their DB2 databases.

The Role:

Administer and continuously monitor DB2 databases.
Optimize database performance to ensure minimal downtime.
Implement and manage database policies and procedures to secure database integrity and availability.
Manage database backups and disaster recovery procedures using Cohesity.
Conduct root cause analysis to troubleshoot database issues and provide timely resolutions.
Contribute to the design and deployment of database storage structures, backup systems, and security frameworks in line with IT security policies.

Technical Skills and Experience:

Profound understanding of database management technologies.
Proficient with VMware and virtualization environments.
Scripting skills in PowerShell, Bash, Python, or similar languages for automation and database task management.
Familiarity with both Windows Server and Unix/Linux operating systems.
Knowledge of VMware (to the extent of working with DB VM Payloads) with NetApp SAN and Cohesity backups.
