We are looking for an experienced, compassionate, and dedicated PMLD Teaching Assistant to join a fantastic SEN School in Stevenage. As a PMLD Teaching Assistant:
- Provide tailored one-on-one and small group support for students with PMLD, promoting their independence and development.
- Collaborate with teachers and a multidisciplinary team to create and deliver individualized education plans (IEPs) that address each student's unique needs.
- Assist with physical care needs, including personal care, feeding, and mobility, ensuring the comfort, dignity, and safety of the students.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, supporting student engagement and progress.
- Work with the SEN team to monitor and track student progress, adjusting teaching strategies as needed.
- Utilize specialized equipment and resources to support learning and accessibility.
- Build strong partnerships with parents, carers, and external professionals to ensure a holistic approach to student development.
We are looking For:
- Proven experience supporting students with PMLD in an educational setting.
- A caring, patient, and empathetic approach to working with children and young people with complex needs.
- Knowledge of communication methods such as Makaton, PECS, or similar (desirable).
- Understanding of the SEN Code of Practice and safeguarding protocols.
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning, SEN diploma, or equivalent).
- Strong teamwork and communication skills, with a commitment to working collaboratively to support students' needs.
