We are looking for an experienced, compassionate, and dedicated PMLD Teaching Assistant to join a fantastic SEN School in Stevenage. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a background in supporting students with profound and multiple learning disabilities to take on a rewarding role where you can truly make a difference in the lives of children.

As a PMLD Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide tailored one-on-one and small group support for students with PMLD, promoting their independence and development.
  • Collaborate with teachers and a multidisciplinary team to create and deliver individualized education plans (IEPs) that address each student's unique needs.
  • Assist with physical care needs, including personal care, feeding, and mobility, ensuring the comfort, dignity, and safety of the students.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, supporting student engagement and progress.
  • Work with the SEN team to monitor and track student progress, adjusting teaching strategies as needed.
  • Utilize specialized equipment and resources to support learning and accessibility.
  • Build strong partnerships with parents, carers, and external professionals to ensure a holistic approach to student development.

We are looking For:

  • Proven experience supporting students with PMLD in an educational setting.
  • A caring, patient, and empathetic approach to working with children and young people with complex needs.
  • Knowledge of communication methods such as Makaton, PECS, or similar (desirable).
  • Understanding of the SEN Code of Practice and safeguarding protocols.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning, SEN diploma, or equivalent).
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills, with a commitment to working collaboratively to support students' needs.
