Our client is dedicated to innovation in power electronics and system solutions. We are seeking a Power Electronics Design Engineer to join our talented team and contribute to the development of advanced power electronic circuits and systems.

Role Summary:

As a Power Electronics Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the complete design cycle of power electronics components and systems, including conceptualization, simulation, design, and validation. Your expertise will drive the development of efficient, reliable, and cost-effective power solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and Development: Conceptualise, design, and develop power electronic circuits and systems, including converters, inverters, and motor drives.
  • Simulation and Modelling: Utilise simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, LTspice, or equivalent to model and analyse the performance of power circuits.
  • PCB Design: Design, optimise, and validate PCB layouts for high-power and high-frequency circuits using Altium, KiCad, Eagle, or similar software.
  • Component Selection: Select components based on design specifications, reliability, thermal, and cost considerations.
  • Prototyping and Testing: Build and test prototypes, and perform in-depth validation and troubleshooting to achieve design objectives.
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure that designs comply with regulatory standards and safety guidelines such as ISO, IEC, and EMC.
  • Documentation: Develop and maintain technical documentation, including schematics, design reports, test results, and user manuals.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with mechanical, software, and systems engineering teams to achieve project goals.
Key Requirements:
  • Educational Background: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year experience in designing power electronics circuits and systems.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Understanding of power converter topologies (AC-DC, DC-DC, DC-AC) and their control techniques.
    • Proficiency in using simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, LTspice, or similar.
    • Hands-on experience with PCB design and layout, considering high-frequency and high-power requirements.
    • Knowledge of magnetic components design, thermal management, and EMI/EMC mitigation.
    • Familiarity with industry standards and safety regulations.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and optimise designs.
  • Communication Skills: Effective communication skills for documentation and teamwork.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in developing products for automotive, aerospace, renewable energy, or industrial applications.
  • Familiarity with high-voltage power electronics and associated safety standards.
  • Knowledge of digital control techniques for power converters and motor drives.
