Our client, a trusted partner of the UK Ministry of Defence, is teaming up with Guidant Global to find a skilled Human Factors Engineer. This role is crucial in maintaining a competitive edge by ensuring that advanced technology is integrated effectively. The Human Factors team plays a vital role in ensuring that weapon systems are effective but also safe and user-friendly. They consider user capability at every stage of development, from concept design to delivery to the customer.

What we're looking for:

Our client's Human Factors team provides essential Land, Air, and Sea services. Their expertise is crucial in developing critical areas like Battlefield, Surface Attack, Deep Strikes, and Air Defence. They are also vital to Team Tempest's participation in the Future Combat Air System (FCAS).

* Member of the Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors (IEHF) - ("Required upon submitting application.")

* Substantial & demonstrable Understanding of the application of Human Factors Integration & Human Factors Engineering in a Defence context (Highly Essential)

* Application of Human Factors Integration & Human Factors Engineering in a Defence context (Air domain preferable)

* Understanding in modelling HF elements in SysML as part of a Model-Based Systems Engineering technique

* Experience with architectural modelling tools (e.g., Rhapsody) and Agile Engineering practices and working in Systems Engineering teams

* Implementing Human-Centred Design Processes

* Knowledge of defence standards (00-251), MS Office, and DOORS

* Perform essential human factors (HF) tasks such as analysing tasks, developing requirements, conducting user trials, and experimentation.

* Ability to generate technical reports, planning skills, customer-focused and effective communication skills.

What you'll get to do as a Human Factors Engineer:

In this role, you will play a crucial part in advancing human-machine relationship technologies. You will be involved in every stage of the process, ensuring optimal integration and functionality. Your responsibilities will include assessing the operator's role in the weapon system, including planning and command control. You will integrate the human element into the system architecture using a model-based systems engineering approach, defining appropriate human views to meet stakeholder needs and HF requirements.

Additionally, you will conduct Human Factors Integration throughout the development life-cycle, providing progressive assurance to the customer in accordance with Def Stan 00-251. You will also conduct user experiments and trials to support system conception, development, and verification, while considering operator workload and situational awareness. Your work will ensure that the human element is effectively integrated into the system, enhancing overall performance and user experience.

Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship

Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by our clients Security Team.
