Due to an increased workload, we are looking for an Environmental Domain Lead to join one of Europe’s leading defence companies. As an Environmental Domain Lead, you will be working closely with multiple stakeholders and customers across the business and delivering environmental activities, such as requirements, proving and design support.

You will have the ability to influence the design, manufacturing and proving of our products whilst developing technical skills and gaining experience across the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and deliver Environmental Engineering (Mechanical and Climatic) activities, including requirements, proving, and design support.
  • Own strategies and activities to support the flow of requirements through to design, proving, and certification.
  • Act as the focal point for all Environmental (Mechanical and Climatic) related activities.
  • Mature environmental requirements and deliver proving strategies.
  • Engage with stakeholders such as ISV, Systems, Mechanical Analysis, Architecture, Quality, and external parties.
  • Lead environmental working groups to coordinate activities aligned with strategic goals.
  • Ensure technical assurance of design, performance, development, proving, and qualification within the domain.
  • Engage with senior members of the business, including Project Heads and Chief Engineers, to resolve environmental engineering challenges.
  • Influence the design, manufacturing, and proving of products.

Requirements:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in planning, managing, implementing, and delivering strategies.
  • Knowledge of environmental engineering within the defence sector or a relevant industry.
  • Familiarity with Mechanical & Climatic environments and their applicability across product life cycles.
  • Understanding of environmental test processes, test measurements, and instrumentation.
  • Awareness of Environmental Engineering Standards (e.g., DEF STAN 00-035, Mil Std 810) and their relevance to Weapon System Development.
  • Experience in requirement definition and management using DOORS NG.
  • Working knowledge of JIRA.
  • Experience in stakeholder management, including internal chiefs, customer community, and external suppliers.
  • Innovative mindset to develop methods for requirement definition and weapon system proving.
