This is a unique opportunity to join their HR team on a 12-month maternity cover contract as an HR Assistant. Based in beautiful Bedfordshire, this part-time role is ideal for someone looking to balance work with other commitments. You’ll be working 2 days per week (with some flexibility on working pattern), supporting the business across a range of HR duties in a trusted and people-first environment. You’ll be providing hands-on HR support across all areas of the employee lifecycle, helping maintain a smooth and efficient people function. You’ll become a go-to contact within the business, known for your discretion, professionalism, and friendly approach. Key Responsibilities:
  • First-line support for day-to-day employee relations matters, escalating when needed.
  • Support with internal investigations, interviews, and note-taking.
  • Maintain up-to-date and compliant employee records and HR systems.
  • Manage joiner and leaver processes, including onboarding and exit interviews.
  • Respond to queries on HR policies, processes, and benefits.
  • Draft salary review, promotion, and flexible working letters.
  • Provide payroll support as required.
  • Handle sensitive information with professionalism and care.
  • Contribute to wider HR projects and collaborate with the broader people team.
What We’re Looking For:
  • 3+ years’ experience in an HR Assistant or HR Advisor role.
  • Knowledge of UK employment law and best practice HR processes.
  • Highly organised, detail-focused, and confident handling confidential matters.
  • Excellent communication skills and approachable, solutions-focused style.
  • Strong IT skills (MS Office, HRIS, digital filing).
Contract Details:
  • 12-month FTC
  • 2 days per week (9am–5pm or flexible working pattern)
  • Salary: Up to £16,000 part-time (£40,000 FTE)
