A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Principal RF Engineer to join a growing but established Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL) team. The role is with a leading European defence company. The right candidate will be surrounded by passionate experts in a supportive and collaborative environment.

The Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL) team conduct the most complete test of missiles (other than live firing) on the Missile test track. They design complex, real-time simulations that surround real missile hardware to allow them to 'fire missiles indoors’.

As a HWIL RF engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing and maintaining new and existing RF equipment and working with multi-disciplinary teams to combine RF, electronics engineering and software development to produce new capabilities that enable the HWIL team to run new simulations.

You will be able to adapt to new engineering situations and be comfortable in abstracting detail to understand the simulation and missile’s behaviourThe successful candidate will have:

  • Radio Frequency design and testing experience
  • Knowledge of system performance analysis
  • Experience of Interface debugging and system integration
  • Extensive experience of Hardware/Software design requirements
  • Proven knowledge of System design for real-time applications
  • Familiarity with Linux operating system
  • Familiarity with computer science (C++ an advantage)
  • Integration of microcontrollers into RF hardware (e.g. Raspberry Pi)
