Our client, a partner of the UK's Ministry of Defence, is seeking a Safety Engineer to oversee the safety aspects of a complex product. In this role, you will leverage your prior experience to push the boundaries of best practices. You will be responsible for optimising safety assurance efforts while balancing the necessary lethal attributes of complex weapon systems. Key Responsibilities:
We are looking for someone to assess the safety of integrating our product onto a new platform. You will work closely with our client's delivery teams, a non-UK prime contractor, and a non-UK customer. Your responsibilities include establishing safety boundaries, drafting a Safety Management Plan, and conducting essential safety analyses. The main focus will be on Hazard Analysis, Functional Failure Analysis, and developing a safety architecture, especially for electronic and programmable aspects and related functional requirements.
- Various hazard identification exercises, including SWIFT and HAZOP.
- Hazard management and risk analysis services include fault tree analysis and event tree analysis.
- Construction of safety arguments and their contribution to ALARP statements.
- Assisting both internal and external safety panels and committees for projects.
- Assist in managing and integrating various activities with system engineering and design programs to ensure timely delivery of materials that support safety cases.
- Knowledge and understanding of DEF-STAN 00-056 and other relevant international standards are necessary to create Safety Management Plans that comply with their regulations.
- IEC 61508/DO178C/DO-254 experience (desirable).
What do you need?:
- Ability to implement UK and International system engineering methodologies, especially for safety-critical systems and their safety assessment procedures.
- Proficiency in integrating hazard analysis with system engineering to shape design and provide safety case reports, hazard analysis, functional failure analysis, and FTA.
- Strong background in electronic engineering, ideally with a degree or HND level education or equivalent experience.
- Experience in other engineering fields such as design, software, and manufacturing is beneficial.
- Proven history of being an efficient team member with excellent interpersonal and influencing abilities.
- Capability to work productively with diverse teams.
- Strong stakeholder management skills.
