IT Network Field Engineer

Location: Hertfordshire

Salary: £40K (DOE)

An IT Network Field Engineer with good working knowledge of routers, switches, Wi-Fi connectivity and Microsoft product suite is required to join a rapidly growing civil engineering firm.

The role with initially be on the field supporting their 20+ sites around Hertfordshire and North London roughly 2-3 times a week.

Key Skills required:

  • Good working knowledge with a range of firewalls, routers and switches e.g. Cisco
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft product suite e.g. Office 365, Active Directory
  • Cabling management e.g. CAT5
  • Ubiquiti UniFi connectivity and troubleshooting
  • Printer connectivity troubleshooting
  • Strong customer facing and a problem solving focused approach
  • Full UK Drivers licence

It would be highly advantageous if the Field Network Engineer had relevant networking certifications. Experience with Databases e.g. SQL would also be a bonus.

We are looking for solution solvers with a focus on service improvement. A willingness to learn is also an important factor of the role, as the company develop their own software and are offering a change to certifications within Cybersecurity.

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Install and configure network hardware and software (routers, switches and firewalls)
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network issues on-site and remotely - regular visits 2-3 times a week and the remaining from their Hitchin office.
  • Monitor and maintain network performance and reliability.
  • Implement security protocols like firewalls and VPNs.
  • Provide support and training to non-technical staff on network use.
  • Document network setups and resolutions for reporting.
