Electronics Engineering/Manufacturing Specialist

Our client is a distributor of products and logistical services to manufacturers of electronic equipment. They support many industries including automotive, medical and security, but the bulk of their activity is within the defence and harsh environment sectors. They stand as one of the largest distributors of its type with industry leading anti-counterfeit testing laboratories, over 200 employees worldwide and estimated sales of £300m.

They are looking to recruit an experienced and competent person with experience in electronics manufacturing and more specifically PCBA.

The role will sit in between the procurement and project teams, and you will be involved from the concept phase to delivery. This would involve working closely with procurement to find the right suppliers and once the project is up and running you will be working on implementation and delivery.

Alongside your technical electronics expertise, this is also very much a customer and supplier focused role. It is therefore important that you have excellent commercial awareness as you will be dealing with clients and suppliers both on and off site. You must also have good procedural and process skills.

You may come from a contract manufacturing background or procurement, account management engineering or sales but it is imperative that you have technical knowledge of CEM or EMS manufacturing within electronics and PCBA

Principal Accountabilities:

  • The successful candidate will show the ability to engage at a technical and manufacturing level with Contract Electronic Manufacturing, Electronic Manufacturing Services and other key sub-tier manufacturing services companies. These companies are both suppliers and customers, providing complex manufacturing services managed and delivered by the 3PL division.
  • Technical knowledge of the CEM or EMS manufacturing environment is key, building strong relationships with engineering, manufacturing and account/project management teams is crucial to delivering the solutions their customers need.
  • Able to work daily with suppliers and partners in supporting the expansive growth plans the company and 3PL have. A strong orderbook and growing industry mix, and customer base provides an excellent basis to develop this key role, creating and improving the company’s already strong position within the electronics market.
