Claims Handler
  • Location: Hertfordshire, United Kingdom (Permanent)
  • Salary: Up to £30,000
  • Type: Office-based (no remote working)
  • Hours: 9-5 with an unpaid 30-minute lunch break
  • Holiday: 25 days per annum plus bank holidays
  • Discretionary Bonus: Up to 5% of base salary

Join a leading law firm specialising in property and debt recovery services. They are dedicated to providing exceptional legal solutions, focusing on efficiency, professionalism, and client satisfaction. We are seeking a diligent and proactive Claims Handler to support their legal professionals in all aspects of debt recovery and property litigation.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Client Communication:
    • Draft and dispatch client care letters, Conditional Fee Agreements (CFAs), and Terms of Business (ToBs).
    • Maintain regular communication with clients, updating them on case progress.
  • Legal Documentation:
    • Prepare Part 7 claim forms and manage the submission process.
    • Draft and file applications to request and set aside judgments.
    • Handle documentation for out-of-jurisdiction proceedings.
  • Judgment Enforcement:
    • Enforce judgments through High Court enforcement officers.
    • Prepare and process charging orders and Orders for Sale.
    • Draft and serve Section 146 Law of Property Act notices.
  • Case Management:
    • Manage a high-volume caseload efficiently, ensuring all deadlines are met.
    • Handle cases related to service charges, ground rent, buildings insurance, and lease breaches.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case files and records.
  • Collaboration:
    • Work closely with solicitors and other team members to facilitate case progression.
    • Liaise with courts, enforcement agencies, and external counsel as necessary.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Education:
    • Legal qualification such as a Law degree or Paralegal diploma is preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Experience in debt recovery or property law is desired.
    • Proven experience with Part 7 claims and enforcement of judgments.
  • Skills:
    • Strong understanding of the Civil Procedure Rules.
    • Excellent drafting and legal research skills.
    • Proficient in legal case management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
