This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Software Technical Specialist to play a leading role in supporting the Test Equipment (TE) and Centre of Excellence (CofEx) Software teams to deliver world leading complex missile systems and sub-component Test solutions.

Job Title:  Software Technical Specialist 

Salary: Circa £65,000 depending on experience

Location: Stevenage (We may be able to offer a relocation package for this role)

Dynamic (hybrid) working: 5 days per week on-site due to workload classification

Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship.

Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

The Opportunity

As a Software Technical Specialist, working within the UK Test Equipment (TE) team and in collaboration with the French Centre of Excellence team (CofEx) you'll be:

  • Performing an overarching role that supports and assists Software project work with the resolution of complex and challenging issues.
  • Working with a wide range of teams and stakeholders across MBDA to support the technical delivery / integration of test software and hardware capability for products from early concept to production;
  • Supporting all aspect of software project development and maintenance lifecycles, ensuring challenging departmental, customer requirements and deadlines are met.
  • Challenging and implementing real change when opportunities arise in the way the software is developed both within test software and the wider software community
  • Working in an office / lab environment engaging with software, test equipment and project components / systems.

What we're looking for from you:

  • Previous wide software engineering experience in the support and/or development of test solutions for Development and Manufacturing purposes
  • Proven and in-depth prior software development experience (C, C++, Ada)
  • Proven track record of solving complex software and hardware integration related problems. 
  • Prior experience of Change, Configuration and release management practices.
  • Practical hands on experience of software installations, measurement equipment, software drivers etc.
  • A strong understanding of what is required to create high quality software and the ability to support quality practices
