Forfeiture Claims Solicitor (Newly Qualified to 3 Years PQE)

Reed Legal are recruiting for a dynamic and motivated Solicitor, newly qualified to 3 years PQE, with specific experience in handling forfeiture claims related to unpaid ground rent, service charges, and assured shorthold tenancies (AST). This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced, specialist legal team, working with property management companies, landlords, and other real estate professionals. The role focuses on managing all aspects of forfeiture claims through to enforcement.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Manage a caseload of forfeiture claims relating to unpaid ground rent, service charges, and AST breaches.
  • Provide clear, practical legal advice to clients on the risks, remedies, and options associated with forfeiture proceedings.
  • Draft and issue formal legal documentation for forfeiture claims, including relevant notices and court applications.
  • Liaise with clients, managing agents, landlords, and other third parties to progress cases efficiently.
  • Represent clients in court proceedings, including attending hearings when required.
  • Ensure that all matters are progressed in accordance with current legislation and case law in relation to forfeiture and leasehold law.
  • Stay up-to-date with developments in property and landlord-tenant law, including changes to the rules governing ground rent and service charges.
  • Work closely with other members of the legal team and provide support where required.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Qualified Solicitor in England and Wales, with 0-3 years of Post-Qualified Experience (PQE).
  • Proven experience in issuing and managing forfeiture claims, including unpaid ground rent, service charges, and AST disputes.
  • Strong knowledge of the Landlord and Tenant Act 1985, Commonhold and Leasehold Reform Act 2002, and relevant case law.
  • Excellent drafting skills and the ability to produce high-quality legal documents.
  • Strong advocacy skills and the ability to represent clients in court.
  • Exceptional communication and client care skills.
  • Ability to manage a varied caseload, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • High attention to detail and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
