Our client, a leading defence organisation, is seeking a motivated Manufacturing Engineer to join their team. This opportunity offers the chance to support development and production manufacturing lines by translating design requirements into user instructions and developing project manufacturing architecture. The successful candidate will coordinate day-to-day support to operations staff within the manufacturing facility.

Role Overview:

This position provides an opportunity to expand knowledge within manufacturing while contributing to key initiatives such as industrial validation, manufacturing architecture, and future factory principles. Working closely with the Principal Engineer, the successful candidate will be responsible for identifying and resolving manufacturing challenges across multiple projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support existing manufacturing lines and new product introduction.
  • Assist in the industrial validation process through the use of FMEA’s, process proving activities, etc.
  • Manage configuration control by implementing design modifications into manufacturing documentation and industrial validation.
  • Support the non-conformance process to ensure efficient issue resolution.
  • Ensure products are manufactured with safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness in mind.
  • Take responsibility for the safe operation of changed processes, liaising with COSHH assessors, SHE, and human factors teams.
  • Collaborate with the design authority during the product prototype and development phase to ensure optimised Design for Manufacture (DfM).
  • Compile and update Manufacturing Instructions while maintaining production BOMs.
  • Develop and manage tooling requirements and control processes.

What Our Client Is Looking For:

  • Formal technical Engineering/Craft Apprenticeship to NVQ Level 3.
  • Additionally, candidates should hold either:
    • A formal further education certificate to HNC or equivalent in a relevant subject, OR
    • A BEng in a relevant Engineering discipline.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to meeting delivery milestones.
  • The ability to interpret design drawings and create Manufacturing Build Instructions.
  • Strong teamwork skills and the ability to contribute effectively within a team environment.
  • Awareness of digital communication platforms to facilitate effective workplace collaboration.

You are required to currently hold a British Passport for this position, or dual citizenship, inclusive of British citizenship.
