The Opportunity:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Technician to join our team in Stevenage. This is a fantastic role for a skilled technician looking to work within a dynamic and fast-paced environment. You will be responsible for maintaining, servicing, and repairing mechanical systems, ensuring all work meets the highest standards of safety and efficiency.

Responsibilities:

  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on a variety of mechanical systems and equipment.
  • Diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical faults in a timely manner.
  • Conducting regular inspections and ensuring systems are operating safely and efficiently.
  • Assisting with the installation and commissioning of new mechanical equipment.
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and maintaining accurate service records.
  • Working closely with other technicians and departments to ensure seamless operations.
  • Responding to reactive maintenance requests and ensuring minimal downtime for critical systems.
  • Keeping up to date with technical standards and developments in mechanical engineering.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Technician, ideally in a commercial or industrial setting.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, including HVAC, pumps, compressors, and boilers.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
  • NVQ or City & Guilds qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to maintenance and repairs.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety standards in engineering environments.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Qualified to HNC or appropriate apprenticeship level in mechanical engineering.
