Bennett & Game are proud to be partnering with a highly experienced, multi-faceted, independent accountancy practice based in Stevenage, who are hiring for a Payroll Administrator (part time) to join their team. The candidate can work 25 hours per week working Mon-Fri (9am-2pm) but can also be flexible, paying up to £30k FTE. This role presents the perfect opportunity for an established payroll administrator who already has full end-to-end payroll processing experience and is looking to expand their payroll knowledge within a bureau setting.

Payroll Administrator Job Overview

The payroll team, is made up of a payroll manager and a payroll supervisor, and due to continued growth, they are now looking to add to this team. Responsibilities include:

  • Process end-to-end payrolls for multiple clients on a weekly, fortnightly, and monthly basis.
  • Working with over 100 clients, who's company payroll can range from 500 members of staff, to 1 member of staff
  • Ensure accurate input and processing of payroll data, including salaries, wages, bonuses, and deductions
  • Prepare and submit RTI to HMRC
  • Handle payroll queries from clients and their employees
  • Prepare and issue payslips, P60s, P45s, and other statutory documentation
  • Calculate and process statutory payments, such as SSP, SMP, and SPP
  • Manage auto-enrolment pension schemes
  • Reconcile payrolls and resolve any discrepancies
  • Assist in the preparation of payroll reports for management and clients
Payroll Administrator Job Requirements
  • 3+ years experience working within payroll
  • Previous accountancy practice experience in payroll is desired but not essential
  • Payroll candidates coming from an industry setting will be considered
  • Must be comfortable working in a practice and bureau setting
  • Competent with multi-tasking
  • Able to effectively work to deadlines, and manage client expectations and relations
  • Collaborating with team members, to maximise performance

  • Salary up to £30k (Full time equivalent)Part time position up to 25 hours. Either spread across 5 short days, or 4 days
  • Working hours 9am to 2pm but this can be flexible
  • Hybrid working - required in office 2-3 days per week
