About the Role: My client is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Policy Officer to join their team. In this role, you will assist in approving game and app ratings, monitor relevant legislative and political developments, ensure compliance with UK laws, and maintain relationships with trade bodies and regulators. You will also conduct presentations and assist with PR services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in approving ratings for games and apps submitted for classification.
  • Monitor legislative, regulatory, and political developments related to games and child protection.
  • Ensure compliance with UK legislation and advise on new regulatory impacts.
  • Foster relationships with trade bodies, regulators, and other stakeholders.
  • Conduct presentations and assist with PR services for inquiries.

Ideal Candidate:

  • A degree in Politics or Law.
  • At least 1 year of experience working within a policy or compliance role.
  • Strong understanding of legal and legislative terminology.
  • Ability to present and speak at events.
  • Able to build strong relationships with external governing bodies, including Ofcom and UK Trade bodies.
  • Experience in giving legal advice would be advantageous.
  • A background in video games/media preferable but not essential
  • Experience working with government departments or regulatory bodies.
  • A good understanding of the UK political landscape.
  • Familiarity with the PEGI age rating system.
  • Strong interest in video games.
  • Proven ability to make pragmatic, objective decisions.
