Working Hours: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, Monday to Friday

Are you a detail-oriented and proactive individual with a passion for finance? Our client, a reputable organisation based in Stevenage, is seeking a Finance Assistant to join their team. Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate records and manage all sales and purchase transactions.
  • Perform regular bank reconciliations and ensure alignment between bank accounts and internal financial records.
  • Provide weekly cash flow reports and support with other management reports as needed.
  • Process weekly and monthly journals in accordance with accounting standards.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements, including Profit and Loss (P&L) reports.
  • Manage month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Handle VAT returns and process quarterly VAT reports.
  • Process weekly payroll, ensuring timely and accurate payment of employees.
  • Process and pay PAYE in line with HMRC requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations through regular internal audits.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a similar finance assistant or accounting role.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and procedures.
  • Experience in managing sales and purchase ledgers, payroll, and VAT returns.
  • Ability to prepare and analyse financial statements, including P&L.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
