We have an exciting role to act as the Technical point of contact for our stakeholders in one of our Surveillance or Life Extension programmes. This is an opportunity to broaden your understanding of a wide range of weapon system technologies in an ever changing and interesting area!

Salary: Circa £55,000 depending on experience

Dynamic (hybrid) working: 2-3 days per week on-site due to workload classification

Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship

Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

The opportunity:

We are looking for someone with an inquisitive nature and an interest in a broad range of technologies and sciences to take on this role within our Propulsion team. This role will give you the opportunity to broaden your understanding of a wide range of weapon system technologies whilst working with many stakeholders, internal and external to MBDA whilst gaining experience with work package management.

Although the engineering knowledge required in any one area is not deep, it needs to be very broad and requires the ability to work with and understand engineers and scientists from a wide range of disciplines. It's an exciting role which will provide you with an excellent opportunity to work with the Customer community and understand their needs in ensuring their weapons are safe and suitable for use throughout their Service life.

You'll be part of our Propulsion team and be working closely with the Head of Surveillance and Life Management, delivering in to Customer Support and Services. We have a fantastic team dynamic with close co-operation internally, and externally with the Customer. This will give you a wealth of expertise across the team you can learn from including some ex-services personnel who can give the User's perspective.

Day to day you'll be involved in the planning of overall programmes ensuring agreement of activities; responding to technical and programme issues identified in testing, maintaining a plan of the programme and reporting progress, reviewing reports of testing conducted and ensuring the reports meet the needs of MBDA and the Customer. Where needed you'll also be making technical judgements of continued safe and suitability for use.

What we're looking for from you:

  • Minimum of HND qualified in a science or engineering subject / degree level or equivalent experience
  • An interest in a broad range of technologies and sciences (there will be elements of chemistry, physics, mechanics, electronics, thermodynamics and statistics involved).
  • Experience of a Systems Engineering approach to technical and programmatic problems, able to put those problems into the context of, and understand the true impact on the wider system or programme.
  • Experience of systems engineering of weapon and missile systems or of key energetic equipment
  • A great team player able to work constructively with a wide range of personalities.
  • Able to take in to account all views in a balance way and able to challenge and influence others when needed
