About the Service:Hertfordshire County Council is dedicated to providing exceptional support to vulnerable children, including unaccompanied asylum-seeking and refugee children. Our Separated Migrant Children (SMC) team offers specialised care, focusing on housing, education, and health support for young people transitioning into adulthood.

We ensure that unaccompanied migrant children receive the care they deserve, with access to education, health services, and cultural support. The team works closely with multidisciplinary services to provide holistic support and advocacy for children and young people at risk of exploitation and trafficking.

About the Role:As a Social Worker within the SMC team, you will:

  • Conduct thorough assessments and risk evaluations for separated migrant children.

  • Develop and implement care plans tailored to individual needs.

  • Collaborate with housing, education, and health services to provide comprehensive support.

  • Advocate for children's rights and entitlements, ensuring they receive services similar to any other child in care.

  • Support young people as they transition into adulthood, helping them navigate independence.

Essential Criteria:

  • Qualified and Social Work England Registered.

  • At least 1 year of post-ASYE experience.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Knowledge of legislation, guidance, policy, and procedures for Separated Migrant Children.

  • Experience working with children at risk of exploitation, trafficking, and modern-day slavery.

  • Proficient in Microsoft IT packages.

  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
