Position Available: Software Architect
Location: Hertfordshire
Salary: £55,000 - £70,000 + Bonus
Experience needed: We are looking for an experienced Software Architect with a strong background in designing complex software systems. Candidates should have expertise in modern and established architecture techniques, design patterns, and software abstraction layers, along with the ability to assess trade-offs, provide technical guidance, and define tools, frameworks, and technologies.
About the role
We are seeking a highly skilled Software Architect to join our UK Test Equipment (TE) team. In this role, you'll define the architectural vision, strategy, and roadmap, guiding both UK TE projects and CofEx initiatives.
Your responsibilities include documenting design drivers (e.g., performance, safety, security, reusability), producing derived requirements, and ensuring the integrity of architectural designs throughout implementation. Collaboration with architects, technical experts, and engineering teams is key, as is contributing to longer-term strategies, new technologies, and tools.
This role offers the chance to influence cutting-edge software solutions while supporting both immediate and future technology strategies.
What we need from you
- A proven Software Architect practitioner with experience making impactful design and architectural decisions in complex environments.
- Strong knowledge of modern and established software architecture techniques and design patterns.
- Ability to guide and collaborate effectively with software developers, articulating architectural solutions clearly.
- Skilled in assessing trade-offs between various architectural aspects and documenting design rationales.
- Understanding of software abstraction layers and the broader software stack.
- Experience in selecting and influencing tools, frameworks, and technologies to align with architectural goals.
